In association with the School of Arts Education and Movement, DCU, Kodály Ireland is delighted to announce details of the 2026 International Summer School -
Active Music Making.
Kodály Ireland (KI) promotes the principles and processes of Kodály-inspired pedagogy in Ireland. An important event in this process is the annual International Summer Course which takes place in early July. Led by renowned Irish, Hungarian and international tutors, the emphasis is on active, experience-based learning. Class levels are graded and therefore all levels of musical experience (from basic to advanced) are welcome.
This intensive professional development course is suitable for:
· Primary teachers
· Post-primary music teachers
· Early years teachers
· Higher education music lecturers
· Vocal and instrumental teachers
· Musicianship teachers
· Conductors
· Singers and instrumental performers
· Music students
· Choral singers
Course Content:
· Graded Musicianship (Solfège)
· Conducting (Basic to advanced)
· Music pedagogy workshops
· Choral singing
· Voice lessons (optional)

Benefits:
On a personal musical level, all participants will get the opportunity to develop their musicianship skills, musical knowledge and understanding. Through singing and active learning, participants will experience improvements in aural awareness, sight-singing, analytical understanding and general musical knowledge, choral singing, ensemble playing and performance skills.
